The Pink-breasted swillow

When you first see the pink-breasted swillow
Trying to take off from a pond or a lake
He may as well be a big, heavy pillow
With all the attempts that he has to make.

Large and round is the pink-breasted swillow,
A huge feathered ball that takes to the air.
But it’s pride that makes his pink breast billow –
He’s only flying for a bit of a dare.

A giant of a swallow, the swillow ascends,
His friends so amused to see him aloft,
But even more quickly the swillow descends –
It’s lucky for him his belly’s so soft.

Unhurt, off he paddles, so pink and so proud
To a round of applause from the gathering crowd.
